Our 2026 Summer Tour
The whole team had their hands full for two days in sweltering heat. At TransformD, we presented our work and also hosted a session of our own. We connected with many people, showcasing what we do and how our work has evolved over the past five years. We also really noticed a shift in the mood regarding AI compared to the last TransformD: questions were much more focused on things like "Can you help us here?" or "Could AI take over this or that task?" In 2025, we had many conversations where visitors didn't yet have any specific use cases in mind. It was a sweaty affair, but well worth it.
Thanks again to everyone who attended our session in 30°C heat, and to the entire DSEE team for the fantastic organization. We had a great time once again.
June 18: ProjectTogether Summer Party, Berlin: Immediately afterwards, we headed to the ProjectTogether summer party. The heat was intense there too, despite the cold drinks, but it was a lovely reunion with plenty of good conversations with old acquaintances as well as exciting new contacts with whom we are already planning future projects!
July 8: SEND e.V. Hamburg Summer Party: Heading further north to the Hamburg summer party, we welcomed the summer season together with the local community. It’s always a pleasure to look out over the water from the KörberHub, enjoying a good mood and great conversations.
July 11: Essen Climate Festival: Amidst temperatures exceeding 30°C and a large turnout of families, we showcased MI4People at the Essen Climate Festival. It was particularly exciting for families to see the impact AI can have on the climate and society!
July 25/26: IPAI Festival, Heilbronn: At the IPAI Festival in Heilbronn, we shared a booth for two days with CorrelAid and CRISP, whose conflict simulator drew many interested visitors to our stand. RentenNavi was also present at a neighboring booth. The event offered a diverse snapshot of the AI landscape, featuring fantastic projects and promising solutions!
On Sunday, Paul also took the stage to share insights from our experiences over the past few years. Amidst a gentle breeze, he spoke about our successes and the many positive outcomes we’ve achieved, such as with our ECG project in Ethiopia (see below). He also addressed the challenges faced and the necessary adjustments made over the last five years. After the talk, many interested attendees stopped by our booth, giving us the chance to delve deeper into questions about our models and our collaborations with partners. Many thanks to everyone for their interest, and to the entire IPAI Foundation team for hosting such a fantastic festival. We’ll definitely be back!
AI Support for Climate Organizations and Social Enterprises: Time is Running Out
Alongside our summer activities, our KIISS program (funded by the BMWE and ESF) is continuing, and we have good news: there are still 13 months of KIISS projects ahead. We have made significant progress in project acquisition and are currently working through many of the projects. Only a few spots remain available. A new cohort begins in September. One of our key projects is based in Ethiopia. It started as an exciting AI challenge, but the more we learned about the country's healthcare system, the more personal the mission became. A country of around 130 million people has only about 30 cardiologists.
We have successfully completed a pilot project alongside our partners. Working with us are colleagues from the Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI), the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM), and many dedicated professionals in Ethiopia. As a result, our AI-powered ECG solution is already in use at nine Ethiopian clinics, saving lives.
The challenge now is to keep the project running. We are currently reviewing ECG recordings with Ethiopian cardiologists to further improve the system while larger grant applications are being processed. That is why we are asking for donations to enable the local cardiologists to continue their vital work.
